The Montessori School of Raleigh is a pre-school, which is based on the philosophies of Maria Montessori and the Montessori curriculum. It is an independent school, which designs programs that are required for the ultimate development of the child. These philosophies have worked for a long time in bringing up kids in an academic environment, away from their familiar ambience at home. This school follows the child-centered approach and teaches them the basic lessons of life.
The Montessori School of Raleigh aims to help the child learn through fun activities. The pre-school believes that: “each child is constantly working towards the person they will become…” and this had been their constant driving principle for all their activities.
This pre-school takes all possible care to deal with the children. The teachers are highly educated. They know how to make the child feel comfortable and they always go easy with the learning process. Beyond academics, the environment of the school also helps the child to fall in love with it, thereby motivating him/her to learn faster. Understanding this, the Montessori School of Raleigh has built a building that is on a six acre wooded ground, which offers the ideal environment for your child to learn.
Goals and philosophies
The schools follow the principles that had been followed by Maria Montessori herself. They respect each kid for being the human that they are. Education is a mutual process of respect between the teachers and students. Thus, it is equally important for the teachers to respect the kids, as it is for them to respect their teachers. In the school, the values and principles of justice, harmony and compassion are therefore, constantly followed.
Programs for the kids
There are different programs designed by the school that aim in an overall development of the kid. These programs combine a number of activities and learning sessions that the children could benefit from.
Practical Life: This is an activity that is designed with the hand-eye coordination and the gross motor control in mind. This also enhances the cognitive order through care for the self and the environment.
Sensorial: Along with the sensory impressions, the children are also taught to judge the meanings and relationship between length of an object, breadth, color, mass, pitch etc.
Mathematics: The children get to understand the concept of the numbers and counting along with the different basic symbols of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Language: Both oral and written skills are aimed to be improved with this program.
Cultural activities: Along with the basic knowledge, the kids are also taught about the fundamental concepts of geography, biology and history. Music and arts are also not ruled out from the program.
